Kunstführer LofotenAlt på 1800-tallet kom det reisende kunstnere til Lofoten for å la seg inspirere av naturen, av lyset og fargene,av dramatikken mellom natur og menneskenes levekår.
Slik er det fortsatt; på lik linje med fiskeren, verksted-arbeideren og bonden er fastboende og tilreisende kunstnere en del av hverdagslivet i Lofoten.
Dette har selvfølgelig satt sitt preg på øyriket. Gjennom boken "En veiviser til kunsten i Lofoten" - og disse websider - ønsker vi å fokusere på kunst i det offentlige rom, kunst som er tilgjengelig for alle, men som vi kanskje ikke vet så mye om.
Boken - og nettsidene - ønsker å være en veivisier til kunsten i Lofoten. Gallerier, enkeltverker og utsmykking som står i offentlige rom er tatt med.

As early as the 1800's, artists made their way to the Lofoten Islands to find inspiration in the natural sur-roundings, the light conditions and resulting colours, and the dramatic relationship between nature and the living conditions of the local inhabitants. The same applies to this day; and like the fisherman, the shop floor worker and the farmer, resident and visiting artists are an integral part of every day life in Lofoten.
Naturally enough, this has had its effect on the islands. With the help of the book, "A GUide to Art in Lofoten" - and these web pages - we intend to focus on art in public places, art that is accessible to everyone, but that we perhaps do not know too much about.
The book - and web pages - are intended to be a guide to art in Lofoten. Galleries, individual works of art and decorations that are located in public places have been included.
The book came about as a result of collaboration between the various local authorities in Lofoten and Nordland county council, and is available for purchase from Vestvågøy council c/o Chief Culture Officer Lars Bakke, tel (+47) 76 05 60 00. 96 pages, full-colour, price NOK 98.

So ist es noch heute: Ebenso wie Fischer, Monteure und Landwirte sind die hier wohnhaften und auch auswärtige Künstler ein Teil des Alltags auf den Lofoten.
DDies macht sich natürlich auf der Inselgruppe bemerkbar. Mit dem Buch "En veiviser til kunsten i Lofoten / Kunstführer Lofoten" – und diesen Internetseiten – möchten wir die Kunst im öffentlichen Raum ins Blickfeld rücken. Sie ist zwar allen zugänglich, aber nicht unbedingt bekannt.
So sollen der Kunstführer und die Online-Präsentation – ein Gemeinschaftsvorhaben der Kommunen auf den Lofoten und der Fylke-Verwaltung Nordland – dem Leser und Betrachter Kunstwerke in unserem Teil des Landes näher bringen. Hier finden Sie eine Beschreibung von Galerien, Einzelwerken und der künstlerischen Ausgestaltung öffentlicher Gebäude.
